Master of Science (M.S.) in Biostatistics
The Master of Science in Biostatistics at the University of South Carolina is more than data science, it’s designed for health impact from the start.
Our program prepares students to apply statistical theory, methods and software to public health research and health-related problems. It’s designed for students who want to improve health by working with data, solving quantitative problems, and using statistics.
Curriculum
Students build skills in study design, data analysis, statistical programming and interpretation of research findings. Students complete training in biostatistical methods, epidemiology, statistical software, R programming, Stata, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, mathematical statistics and statistical inference.

Graduate assistants must be enrolled as full-time students. Assistantships are typically classified as quarter-time, which is 10 hours per week, or half-time, which is 20 hours per week.Yes, we offer tuition supplements. 95% of our students receive a tuition supplement that grants them in-state tuition.
