The University of South Carolina has multiple big bands and small ensembles. Jazz
ensemble participation is open to all university students by audition, including non-music
majors.
Ensembles perform both on campus and in the community, covering a diverse repertoire
of musical styles.
Every semester the big bands and combos give a formal concert and several informal
concerts, both on and off campus. Matt White is director of Jazz Studies.
Every year great jazz musicians come to USC to perform and work with the students.
