Enjoy fresh, vibrant chamber music concerts by the School of Music’s renowned faculty and visiting artists. Named for philanthropist Cornelia Freeman, the series raises scholarship funds for gifted music students.

Terra String Quartet

October 29, 2029 | 7:30 p.m. | USC Recital Hall

New York City–based Terra String Quartet launches the inaugural Parker Freeman Chamber Music Series with a joyful program showcasing its distinctive artistry. The program includes Jesse Montgomery’s Strum, Benjamin Britten’s String Quartet No. 3  and Antonin Dvorak’s String Quartet in F Major “American.”

While in residency at the University of South Carolina, Terra String Quartet will give masterclasses and a family-friendly concert featuring on Nov. 1, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. in Johnson Hall.

Imani Winds

The People Could Fly: America at 250

Blending music and narrative, and inspired by the African American folktale The People Could Fly, Imani Winds honors America’s 250th year with a mediation on freedom, memory and transformation. Rather than a patriotic celebration, it offers a space for reflection – a journey through works by living composers who give voice to migration, resistance, and the ongoing pursuit of justice. 

Parker Quartet

Thursday, April 1, 2027 | 7:30 p.m. | USC School of Music Recital Hall

Experience an unforgettable evening as the Grammy® Award-winning Parker Quartet, USC’s Quartet-in-Residence, returns for a special spring concert featuring works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Gabriella Smith and Robert Schumann.

On Sunday, April 4, The Parker Quartet presents a free, family-friendly concert featuring works by Beethoven and Mozart with guest artist Daniel Sweaney, USC professor of viola.


$25 general admission;  free for USC School of Music students, faculty and staff. Tickets are available at the Koger Center for the Arts Box Office (803-251-2222) and at the door.
 
Concerts are not live-streamed, but video recordings can be made available upon request to patrons who support the School of Music.
