Background

Shaoqin Tang is an assistant professor of international business at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. He received his Ph.D. in Strategy and Entrepreneurship from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2026. His teaching interests include strategic management, technology and innovation management, global strategy, and entrepreneurship.

Research

Tang's research examines how AI and algorithms, open source communities, and digital platforms shape firm strategy, human capital, and innovation, with a focus on international business. His work has been published or is forthcoming in the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of Management, and he has a paper under revise and resubmit at the Strategic Management Journal. His research has received the Best Paper Award from the Knowledge & Innovation Interest Group of the Strategic Management Society and was a finalist for the SMS Best Ph.D. Paper Prize (2023).
