We are seeking a motivated Emergency Room Clinical Pharmacist to join our community
hospital team in a 7-on/7-off position. This role supports a busy emergency department
within a hospital serving a seven-county region, designated as a Level III Trauma
Center and DNV Primary Stroke Center.
The pharmacist will provide direct clinical support for emergency medicine services,
collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams to
optimize medication therapy, support time-sensitive protocols, and promote safe, evidence-based
care for patients presenting with acute and complex needs. This position will also
be involved in the hospital’s PGY1 pharmacy residency program through precepting,
teaching, and supporting resident development.
Qualified candidates should have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication
skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency care environment. Candidates
with an interest in teaching, mentorship, and residency education are encouraged to
apply. PGY1 residency training, emergency medicine experience, or board certification
is preferred but not required.

Qualifications
Licensed and in good standing status by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy to practice
as a pharmacist or board eligible;
Pharm.D. degree and completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or two or more years of
relevant clinical experience may be considered in absence of residency training; or employed as a Clinical Pharmacist with SRH prior to 4/1/2018.
PGY2 Pharmacy residency in applicable area of specialty preferred.
Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification in area of specialty preferred.
If board eligible, must obtain South Carolina pharmacist license within 3 months of
hire.

Accurately interprets and enters medication orders in the computer for drug administration.
Ensures that medications are dispensed and delivered promptly.
Correctly checks medications including IVs, carts and kits before dispensing from
the pharmacy.
Serves as a drug information resource for members of the health care team.
Help promote safe and effective use of all automated medication dispensing and packaging
systems, any applicable infusion pump technologies, remote temperature monitoring
systems, EHR, and all other hospital pharmacy technology.
Knows and follows both hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures, medication related
policies and procedures located online in the patient care manual.
Contacts the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a medication
order related to a drug interaction, allergy, drug disease state interaction, issue
with med reconciliation or other CPOE orders, and other circumstances as indicated.
Ensures proper charging and crediting of medications.
Knows and follows state and federal laws regarding dispensing of medications.
Knows and follows regulatory standards and policies related to all governing bodies.
Clinical Staff Pharmacists work as a team with a positive attitude when interacting
with other department employees including pharmacy students and residents in addition
to other hospital personnel.
Should be knowledgeable in medications and exhibit the clinical and professional skills
to positively interact with physician, nurse, and other health care practitioners
in hospital formulary issues, in-services, rounds, etc.
Provides supervision and direction to pharmacy technicians to ensure timely and accurate
pharmacy services.
Participates in hospital committees or other projects where pharmacy involvement is
needed as assigned.
Assists in the training and education of new staff members, pharmacy residents, pharmacy
students and pharmacy technician students.
Handles and resolves customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust
and loyalty.

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of his/her
practice area. Develops and maintains policies and procedures for assigned practice
area.
Coordinates workflow in assigned practice area and participates in the planning process
to maintain effectiveness, growth, and quality.
Responsible for training of pharmacists, technicians, and students in the assigned
practice area.
Responsible for Human Resources documentation for direct reports.
Participates in administrative call rotation as needed.
Responsible for all duties and key results of a Clinical Staff Pharmacist.

Reporting to the Vice President of Pharmacy, the Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager is responsible
leadership of ambulatory clinical programs, formulary processes, medication utilization,
clinical education programs, and personnel activities of ambulatory pharmacy services.
This position entails aligning ambulatory medication practices and leading clinical
pharmacy programs to expand, integrate, and sustain medication management while improving
patient outcomes.
